Maggie Meares, editor-in-chief
Maggie Meares is a third year from Alexandria, Virginia double majoring in Public Policy and Art History. Outside her work on the Journal, she serves as EOVP in APO (a gender inclusive service fraternity), is a member of the Jefferson Society, teaches with Charlottesville Debate League, is part of Kappa Delta Sorority, and absolutely crushes IRO pickleball tournaments! When not doing any of those things, you can probably find her starting a new knitting project, spending time hiking, or talking her friend’s ears off. She is excited to be the Editor in Chief of the journal this year and looks forward to a successful publication!
Wyatt Dayhoff, Managing Editor - Journal
Wyatt Dayhoff is a rising third year from Minnetonka, MN studying Public Policy and Foreign Affairs. He is interested in Sino-American competition and its impact on developing nations. Outside of the Journal, he is on the Executive Board of the Class of 2026, works with the Center for Politics, and plays club Ultimate Frisbee.
Brooke Blosser, Managing Editor - Op Ed
Brooke is a fourth year from Harrisonburg, Virginia, majoring in Foreign Affairs with a double minor in Leadership & Public Policy and History. This will be her third semester on the Journal, and her academic interests include the Balkan Peninsula and US National Security. Outside of the Journal, she is involved in Hoos Views, a CIO promoting bipartisanship, and organizes community service opportunities for the Inter-Sorority Council. In her free time, you can find Brooke on the golf course or binging the latest season of The Kardashians.
Apal Upadhyaya, PRODUCTION CHAIR
Apal Upadhyaya is a third year at the University of Virginia majoring in Public Policy & Leadership and minoring in Japanese Language & Literature. She has worked on the journal since her second year. Aside from the journal, she is also involved with the Cavalier Daily, the University’s own student run newspaper. Her academic interests include international security, education policy, and democratic reform. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing Taylor Swift songs on the piano, and walking around Grounds. She’s excited to serve as Production Chair for the Virginia Journal!
Kaitlyn Fong, Events Chair
Kaitlyn is a second year from New York City planning on double majoring in Economics and Public Policy. Aside from the Journal she is a student teacher for America Reads, an analyst in Smart Women Securities, and an advisor for PAFN. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, movie marathons with friends, and travelling!
Elizabeth Hardin, Media Manager
Elizabeth Hardin is a third-year student from Alexandria, Virginia double majoring in Foreign Affairs and Public Policy. Outside of the Journal she is involved in Model United Nations and the Cavalier Daily. In her free time you can find her hanging out at her sorority house, playing pickleball, or refilling the coffee machines at the Batten school.
