Apal Upadhyaya, editor-in-chief

Apal Upadhyaya is a fourth year from Dulles, VA, majoring in Public Policy & Leadership and minoring in Japanese Language & Literature. She has worked on the Journal since her second year. Aside from the Journal, she is the Classroom Classroom Coordinator Intern for Volunteers with International Students, Staff, and scholars (VISAS), a university wide program dedicated to serving international members of the UVA community. Her academic interests include the U.S.-Japan relationship, international and subnational diplomacy, and human rights policy. In her free time, she enjoys reading, painting, and exploring Charlottesville.

 
 
 
 

Wyatt Dayhoff, Managing Editor - Journal

Wyatt Dayhoff is a fourth year studying Public Policy and Foreign Affairs. He is interested in U.S.-China competition and its effects on developing nations, particularly as it pertains to strategic natural resources. In his free time, he enjoys frisbee, country music, and reading. 

 

Anna-Douglas Piper, Managing Editor

Anna Douglas Piper is a third year from Memphis, TN, studying Public Policy & Leadership and Foreign Affairs and minoring in French. She has worked on the Journal as a staff writer since her second year and is interested in diplomacy, politics, international security, and humanitarian aid. Outside of the Journal, she is a political associate for Cavalier Strategies, a sorority representative for the Inter-Sorority Council, and research assistant for Professor Craig Volden. In her free time, you can find her on walks, watching Scandal, or talking about kayaking at her summer camp. 

 

Charlotte Sparling, PRODUCTION CHAIR

Charlotte Sparling is a second year from Fairfax, VA, double majoring in History and Economics. Her academic interests center around the legal world and how various countries balance their differences surrounding these issues. This is her second year with the Journal. When she is not studying or volunteering with the UVA Catholic Center, you can find her reading a book by Fredrik Backman.  

 

Priya Buddhavarapu, Events Chair

Priya Buddhavarapu is a second year from Fairfax, VA, studying philosophy and statistics at UVA. Outside of the Journal, she is involved with Model United Nations, Club Tennis, and service for the International Relations Organization. In her free time, you can find her jamming to some music on a run, reading a good book, or exploring a local Thai restaurant. 

 

Luke Crafton, Media Manager

Luke Crafton is a second year from Raleigh, NC, double majoring in Foreign Affairs and History. His academic interests include Latin American history and politics and historical linguistics. Beyond the Journal, he is also involved in the Washington Society, WXTJ Student Radio, and active in multiple foreign language clubs.
